UM 52, ASU 14 Final
The Michigan Wolverines rolled over the visiting Appalachian State Mountaineers with a 52-14 season-opening victory at The Big House in Ann Arbor.
Devin Gardner and Devin Funchess got the show started by connecting for three touchdowns in the first half. Funchess became the first wideout in program history to have three touchdown grabs in the season opener.
Gardner was effective in the first half, completing 12 of 13 attempts as Team 135 coasted to a 35-0 lead at the break.
However, there is a bit of bad news for the Wolverines. Jabrill Peppers limped from the field in the first half and didn’t return.
Simms McElfresh and Marcus Cox scored for the Mountaineers.
